What Does a Luxury Kitchen Remodel Cost in Los Angeles?
Luxury kitchen remodels in Los Angeles are generally quoted between about $80k and $250k, and estate-scale kitchens run past that. Those are market figures, not ours, and here is the part most pages will not tell you: the most expensive kitchen we have finished and closed out is $84k, and we hold no completed kitchen above $100k at all. 6 of our 22 kitchens came in over $70k. If you want a builder who can show you a finished $200k kitchen, that is not us — and you should ask anyone who claims it to show you the closed-out number.
What we have actually built at the top end
Our kitchen record stops at $84k. There is no kitchen above $100k in it. That is a real ceiling, not modesty.
Where we have worked at genuine high-end budgets is whole-home. Of the 18 whole-home remodels we have closed out, 4 came in over $250k and the largest was $440k. Those projects included their kitchens, which is why a standalone luxury-kitchen line does not appear in our book — on that scale the kitchen is part of the whole job rather than its own contract.
So the honest positioning is this: we have run projects at luxury-kitchen budgets, inside larger scopes, and we have not delivered a standalone kitchen at that price. Both halves of that sentence matter if you are choosing a builder.
What the money actually buys as you move up the tiers
The jump from a good kitchen to a luxury one is mostly three line items, and they compound. Everything in the top row is inside our own completed range; everything below it is a Los Angeles market estimate.

Only the first row is drawn from our own completed projects. The luxury and estate rows are Los Angeles market estimates — we have no finished kitchen at those levels to summarise, and we are not going to present someone else's numbers as our track record.
Why cabinetry decides the tier more than anything else
Cabinetry is the single biggest swing. Moving from semi-custom overlay to fully custom inset with a hand-applied finish can double the cabinet line on its own, and cabinetry is typically a quarter to a third of a kitchen budget before that happens.
Appliances are the second. A full professional package can add more than most people spend on their entire kitchen. Appliances do not scale with room size, so this line is nearly identical whether the room is large or small.
Stone is third and the most visible. Full-slab natural stone, book-matched across a run, costs several times an engineered surface and is the thing photographs best. It is also the line most likely to be regretted if the layout underneath it is wrong.
The order matters. A luxury budget spent on surfaces over a layout that does not work produces an expensive kitchen that is annoying to cook in.
What actually goes wrong at this level
Lead times, not money, break the schedule. Fully custom cabinetry runs months from order to delivery, and imported stone can be similar. Ordering those during design rather than after the permit is issued is the single biggest schedule lever on a luxury kitchen.
The old house underneath. A luxury finish sitting on services that were not upgraded is the most expensive mistake available in this bracket. If the wiring and plumbing are not right, they will be opened up again later, through the new finish.
Buying the tier rather than the room. The kitchens that get the strongest reaction are not always the most expensive. They are the ones where the layout was solved first.

How long does a luxury kitchen take? +
Design and specification typically run 4-8 weeks, permitting adds weeks on top, and construction is commonly 16-28 weeks. The binding constraint is usually cabinetry and stone lead times rather than the site work, which is why the ordering sequence matters more here than on a smaller job.
Should I ask a contractor to prove their high-end work? +
Yes, and ask specifically for closed-out final costs rather than starting-from figures or renderings. A quoted range tells you what a builder hopes a job will cost. A final price tells you what happened. We publish ours for every project we have finished.
