Kitchen and Hall Bath Remodel in Orange — Wood Shaker and Quartz
Wood shaker cabinetry under a full-height quartz slab in the kitchen, and a hall bathroom rebuilt around a marble-look tub surround with a lit mirror. $75,000 for both rooms together.
The Scope
Two rooms in one job, in Orange: the kitchen and the hall bathroom. The $75,000 on this page is the pair of them together, not either one on its own.
The kitchen is fitted in wood shaker cabinetry — plain rails, flat panels, and a natural honey finish that leaves the grain visible rather than staining over it. Pulls are brushed bar handles. A full-height pantry closes the run at one end, and the counters are a light quartz with soft grey veining.
The same quartz carries up the range wall as a full-height slab instead of stopping at a tiled backsplash, so the veining runs unbroken from the counter to the underside of the hood. Above it sits a stainless chimney hood, and below it a black stainless slide-in gas range with a griddle in the middle of the cooktop. The sink is undermounted below the window between the dishwasher and the range, and the floor is a warm plank that runs the length of the room.
The hall bathroom is the quieter of the two. Its tub and shower surround is a large-format marble-look tile, 12x24, with a recessed shampoo niche set into the wall and a frosted window inside the wet area. The shower fitting is a handheld on a slide bar, and every fitting in the room is a brushed nickel.
The vanity is a wood cabinet in the same family as the kitchen, with a quartz top, an undermount basin and a lit mirror above it whose light comes from the edge of the glass rather than from a fixture on the wall.

Common questions about this project
What did this project cost?
$75,000. That is the final figure for this job, taken from our own records — not an estimate and not a range. It covers both rooms together: the kitchen and the hall bathroom.
Is $75,000 what a kitchen costs on its own?
No, and it is worth being clear about it. $75,000 bought two finished rooms here. Our completed kitchens on their own run $23k–$84k, median $50k, across 22 projects; our completed bathrooms run $28k–$105k, median $38k, across 27. Those are close-out figures from our own records.
What was included for that price?
The work shown on this page: wood shaker cabinetry, quartz counters and a full-height quartz backsplash with a stainless hood in the kitchen, and a hall bathroom with a marble-look tub and shower surround, a recessed niche, a wood vanity with a quartz top, a lit mirror and brushed-nickel fittings. Every photograph here is of this project. We do not describe work the photographs do not show.
Can I see what other finished projects actually cost?
Yes. We publish the final cost of a sample of completed projects, with the figures taken from our own records rather than estimated. The full table is on our real project costs page.
Planning a kitchen, a bathroom, or both?
We take on a small number of design-build projects each year. If yours might be one of them, let's talk.
