The Scope

The kitchen splits its cabinetry by height. Uppers are white shaker, some of them glass-fronted; lowers are a charcoal shaker with brass bar pulls. Counters are a white quartz, and the sink is a white apron-front farmhouse basin set below the window with a brass tap above it.

The backsplash is the piece that sets the room. It is a cobalt glass tile in a small format, run behind the counters and up the range wall, with a patterned panel set into the field directly behind the cooktop so the tile does something different where the eye lands.

Appliances are stainless: a slide-in range under a chimney hood, a dishwasher beside the sink, and a microwave built into the lower run. Woven roman blinds soften the windows, and the floor is a light plank that runs through the kitchen.

The bathrooms are a deliberate contrast — quiet where the kitchen is loud. Walls are a large-format marble-look porcelain in a soft white with grey veining, run in big sheets so the joints are few. Basins are rounded vessels sitting on the counter, and the mirrors are backlit rectangles that light the face rather than the wall.

Every fitting in the bathrooms is a brushed brass — taps, shower sets, rain heads, towel rails and robe hooks — which is what ties the rooms together against all that pale slab. Showers are walk-in behind glass, with mosaic-tiled floors and benches, and frosted windows where the wet area meets the outside wall.
