The Scope

The kitchen works off a contrast of two materials. Perimeter cabinetry is a flat white with slim black bar pulls; the island is fronted in walnut on all sides and topped with a quartz slab that finishes in a standard overhang. Counters carry the same quartz, and the backsplash is a narrow stacked tile in a warm off-white that keeps the wall quiet behind the open timber shelves.

Lighting is deliberate rather than uniform — clusters of globe pendants over the island and the run, with recessed lights filling in. Appliances are stainless: a range in the perimeter run, a dishwasher beside the sink, and a refrigerator at the end of the cabinetry.

Through the ground floor, the openings are arched rather than square-cased, which carries through from the kitchen to the hall and the stair. Flooring is a wide timber plank laid continuously across kitchen and dining.

The stair is a straight run of timber treads against a white stringer with a slim wall-mounted handrail. The space beneath it takes a stacked washer and dryer, tucked in beside the refrigerator so the laundry never needs its own room.

The bathrooms go the other way on colour. Walls are a sage-green tile laid in a vertical stack, run to full height, with pebble-mosaic floors in the wet areas and black tapware throughout. One shower carries a built-in bench and a recessed niche; another sits behind a frameless glass screen beside a timber vanity. The powder room keeps the same timber and black pairing at a smaller scale.
