A Glendale bathroom brief depends almost entirely on the decade the house was built. A 1920s house has one small bathroom with original tile of variable quality; a post-war house has a tub in an alcove and a fan that never worked; a hillside house often has a large primary bath that was never quite finished to the standard the architecture implied.

Bathrooms across three eras
The 1920s bathroom
Small, tiled, and sometimes holding genuinely good original work. Deciding what is worth keeping before demolition day is a short conversation that occasionally saves the best surface in the house.
The post-war bathroom
Rebuild the room around a real shower, waterproofed and drained properly, and fix the ventilation nobody fixed. That is most of the value, and it is available without moving a wall.
The hillside primary suite
Here the brief is usually bath, closet and bedroom rebalanced together. Treating the three as one design problem beats polishing the bathroom in isolation and then wondering why the suite still does not work.
Design review, where it applies
Interior work is generally a plan-check matter. Where a project is subject to design review, the city's published design guidelines are what it is measured against, and a registered historic property follows the historic-district guidance.
