Kitchen Remodeling in Hancock Park
Serving 90004 · 90020 · 90019 · 90036 and Larchmont Village, Windsor Square, Miracle Mile
We have finished and published a kitchen in Hancock Park, and the most useful thing to say about it is what it actually replaced: honey-oak cabinetry from the 1980s, sitting inside a 1920s house. That is the normal condition here. Most of what homeowners want removed in this neighbourhood is not original at all, which makes the preservation question far smaller than people fear.
Real projects. Real prices.
73 finished remodels published with their final price — nothing hidden.
What 27 finished LA kitchens actually cost: a median of $50k, in a range of $23k–$84k. Real final prices from our own job records, not estimates.
$38,000 Emerald shaker cabinetry and brass hardware around a cream range and an apron sink.
$40,000 White shaker cabinetry and brass pulls around a sage-green island under a beaded chandelier.
$60,000 Traditional shaker cabinetry with encaustic tile accents and a warm-wood island.
$65,000 White uppers over grey shaker lowers with brass pulls, an apron sink and a broad quartz peninsula.
$75,000 Wood shaker cabinetry under a full-height quartz slab, with a marble-look hall bath.
$75,000 Rift-oak flat-panel cabinetry with white uppers, a quartz island and a fluted tile backsplash.
Kitchens in 1920s period-revival houses
The cabinetry is newer than the house
Period-revival houses in this neighbourhood have usually been re-kitchened at least twice, most recently in a decade nobody is nostalgic about. Replacing that is not a heritage matter — it is a room that has been waiting to be given back its proportions.
Behind unchanged elevations, the overlay is not involved
The preservation overlay is concerned with what the street can see. A kitchen rebuilt inside existing windows and walls is ordinary plan-check work through the city building department. A new window in a visible elevation is a different project, and we establish which one is being drawn before drawing it.
A back-of-house room becoming the centre of the house
These kitchens were built small, closed and at the back, with a service stair or a pantry beside them. The single most valuable move is usually absorbing that adjacent space rather than extending the house.
Nineteen-twenties services under a modern kitchen
Wiring patched across a century, supply pipework at the end of its life and a service size drawn for a house with three appliances. In this stock that is a line item, surveyed and priced, not a contingency held in reserve.
