No neighbours to design around
Window treatments here can be about light and warmth rather than privacy, which changes the whole character of a room. Glazing can be larger, seating can face outward, and the interior can be planned with the confidence that nothing outside is looking back in.
A palette taken from the grove
Green canopy, dry hillside, dark trunks and strong afternoon light are the givens outside every window. Interiors that draw their colours and materials from that setting settle into these houses in a way an imported urban scheme never quite manages.
Furnishing rooms with real size
Rural-lot houses tend to have larger rooms than their suburban equivalents, and furniture bought for a smaller house floats in them. Larger pieces, fewer of them, and deliberate zoning within a big room solve more perceived problems here than any decorative decision.
